Learning to serve within our own school community provides the students with a safe and familiar context to help others. Meanwhile, engaging in the care of others beyond the school gates is important for the developing adolescent.
Our volunteer programs allow the boys to serve others through both mentoring and advocacy. They learn not only to share their gifts and time, but to witness firsthand the many fine character traits of others.
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ partners with close to 20 not-for-profit and charitable organisations that support people with disabilities, the homeless, aged care residents, children escaping domestic violence, and local primary school students.
Despite the hundreds of volunteer opportunities on offer to our boys, demand always outstrips availability. This is an indication of the caring and compassionate young men we are privileged to have here at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
Service Learning tours run each year to the Kimberley region of northern Western Australia, and to Cambodia. These tours are always very popular with the older students, who enjoy assisting the local children and learning about their culture.
As we continue to develop Service Learning at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, we remain focused on maintaining and upholding the dignity of those we desire to serve. At the very heart of the program, we believe that learning before and throughout the experience is key to facilitate a connected community at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and beyond.
